Andrea (“Addie”) Butler is known for being a relentless advocate for her clients, both in court and out. Ms. Butler has represented thousands of clients in a wide range of insurance-related disputes. She has litigated catastrophic property damage claims, novel coverage interpretations, multi-party construction defect cases, business interruption issues and disaster-related loss of income. Ms. Butler has represented residential and commercial clients in insurance-related matters and disputes in every phase of a claim, from the day after a disaster until her clients are made whole again. She has represented clients from initial investigations of a loss, to negotiation, appraisal, mediation, and in every phase of litigation, including through appeal.
She has achieved successful results for clients in state and federal courts from Texas to New York, Louisiana Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, and more. Her litigation practice also includes subrogation issues, consumer law, contract issues, first- and third-party insurance claims and general civil litigation.
In addition to her individual practice, she has lead teams representing hundreds of home and property owners in coordinated litigation in federal court. Out of court, Ms. Butler provides consulting services to businesses on a range of legal topics, with a special focus on complex insurance, business income interruption, consumer, and contract-related issues.
Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Ms. Butler was admitted to the Liberal Arts Honors program at the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in government. She earned her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center, where she also participated in the nationally recognized moot court program. Ms. Butler served as an editor of the Houston Business and Tax Law Journal, and served on the Law Center Honor Board.
Ms. Butler is a member of the Houston Bar Association and is licensed to practice law in Texas and various federal courts across the country.
